In the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through the man, in spite of real sorrows.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I started growing vegetables in my backyard during the covid lockdowns. During these unprecedented times of forced isolation and reflection, I began noticing, really for the first time, how things grew. Not just the vegetables I planted, but the fruit trees which stood on my property for decades, as well as the evergreens, cacti, grasses, flowers - everything that grew around me.

I observed and photographed the cycle of life - from seedling to flower to mature plant - astounded by the morphing of color and shape.

With the goal of using multiple images to create a singular view of a plant’s life - I resourced INSTAGRAM’s magical app LAYOUT to create GRIDLIFE.
